I've finally updated, after weeks and weeks of laziness.
Well, the competition results came out two days ago, and our school got Merit, plus a subsidiary award for Best Layout for a School Newsletter. Altogether, $160. =D

Plus, I'm ecstatic to know that Serene wants me back next year in IN. Didn't know I was liked in the first place, haha.

alright.

Yes, less enthusiastic then I thought I would post. But it's the truth.

Newsletter turned out great, but there was one problem.....
WE LOST THE PICTURES FOR OUR PICTORIAL ARTICLE!

Turned out the memory card where the pictures were stored ended up being corrupted.
But overall, it turned out well. Kudos to the entire team for putting out a great newsletter! =D

But now, it gets worse.
I LEFT THE FUCKING CS3 DISC IN ONE OF THE COMPUTERS!! ARGH!!

I just checked the casing this morning, found that it was gone.
Soon, I realised why. I FORGOT TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE COMPUTER ONCE I INSTALLED THE PROGRAM.

Now, I left a message at SPH, hoping that one of the guys in-charge of the competition would do something.

Sigh...
now I'm just anxiously waiting for 12 December, the day when they would announce the winners. Oh God, I just hope we get in the Top 3.

After the competition, went home and slept from 10am-5.30pm

Then slept again from 3am-12pm.

What fun. :p

I just watched a movie called The Mist, and I have to say, it's one of the most frightening and nerve-wrecking movies I seen. It's about a freak storm that unleashes a species of blood-thirsty creatures on a small town, where a small band of citizens hole-up in a supermarket and fight for their lives. Now, after reading this, you might think that it's just another brainless gore-fest tailor made for the thrill-seeking moviegoer, but it's more than that. It's a case study of survival, and the people that fight for their lives. Sure, it's gory. Very gory. And there are these creepy bug creatures. A lot of them. But the scariest part of the movie is the people. The decisions they make, just to hope for survival throughout this ordeal. All the actors in the movie put up a great performance, and I liked how the director used a digital camera to film the movie to give it a "documentary-like" feel to it, which made the movie look more realistic.

The people that are trapped in the supermarket are divided. Some decide to follow David Drayton, the movie-poster artist whose ultimate mission is to save his wife, who's left in their house, Mrs. Carmody, the over-zealous Christian nut who at first was looked upon by everyone as insane because of her Apocolyptical preachings, but soon many followed her because of the monstrosities they witness and form a cult, with her as the leader, and Brent Norton, the lawyer who believes that the mist is nothing more than a normal natural disaster and that staying in the supermarket would be a deathtrap.

The ending of the movie is the most shocking ending I have ever seen, period. I'm still pretty much shaking right now after what I saw. It's a work of horror genius and I recommend this movie to anyone not wanting just a good scare, but wanting to watch a great movie.

Well, not really, since that we got to go home 11-12+, earlier than usual.
But yeah, they were depriving us our first two weeks of holiday.

Anyway, 18-19 is the Straits Times Newspaper Competition!
Where my school team, where there's me, Rach, Chin Yong (:p), Shafiq and Si Yong, will kick the sorry asses of the other school teams.
Aiming for the Silver prize, so I can get a PS3 haha.

The Dark Knight

Since I watched it today again to fully understand the whole story, I can now write this review:

It's plain and simple. The Dark Knight was a MASTERPIECE. Not only is it the greatest superhero movie, it is also one of the greatest crime movies ever made, and even sets the standard for superhero movies to an all-new level (that's an extremely remarkable feat, considering the bar was already set high by 2002's Spider-Man).

So what's the story about? Well, it continues from the events of the first movie. Gotham has gotten worse. Carmine Falcone, the original head of the Falcone crime family, was admitted to the Arkane Asylum in the first movie, so the family is taken over by Salvatore Maroni, and crime and injustice resumes in Gotham. However, there is a man who wants to end all this: Harvey Dent, the Gotham District Attorney. A man with moral values and a mission to rid of all corruption and crime to make Gotham safe again.

As for Batman, he continues to act as the local vigilante, helping the police to defeat criminals. Defeating the villains from the first movie such as Ra's Al Ghul and Scarecrow (who makes a brief appearance at the beginning of the movie), everything seems to be shaping up, but there is only one small problem: The Joker. A relentless, psychotic mastermind bent on destroying the heroes of Gotham, wanting to prove that even the greatest heroes can fall.

Like I said before, the movie was a masterpiece. Everything went right. There were no flaws at all. Zilch. (Well, maybe one. It was too short. IMO of course) It is even a movie that is on the same level as some of the best crime movies ever, like The Untouchables and Goodfellas. The performances were top-notch, especially the three main characters: Batman (played by Christian Bale), Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart) and The Joker (played by the late Heath Ledger).

Let's start with Batman. Bale did a great job conveying the tortured soul of Bruce Wayne/Batman. I'm sure he's going to get more job offers after this movie.

Then there's Harvey Dent. Eckhart was perfect as Harvey Dent, a man who wanted to fight for good but ended up being the bad guy. His tragic fall from all-American good guy to the downright bad man is moving, and he deserves a pat on the back.

But the actor hat really shines is the late Heath Ledger, who gives the performance of a lifetime as the psychotic killer The Joker. His portrayal of an anarchic, insane criminal that borders on the line of sado-masochism is chlling and somewhat disturbing. I agree with many of the audiences and critics: he NEEDS a posthumous Oscar. That guy worked to the bone to portray a villain so ominous, he deserves to be known as one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

The other supporting actors, Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman and even Chin Han, was great, although I thought they should've gotten more screentime.

All in all, this is a movie not to be missed, even if you don't like comic adaptations. It's a movie that will transcend through time, and be known as a classic.

A 5/5 from me. Go see it! (:

Yes, the title says it all. I promised to update more, but with my fatal disease lazitinginlingus, more commonly known as laziness, overwhelming me, I was too lazy to update. Well, here I am.

This holiday is ending fast, unfortunately. I want at least one more friggin week, dammit. I still haven't started on my holiday homework. I just came back from watching Get Smart, which I declare as one of the most funniest movies in a long time. Theatres have been infested with piles of vomits that disguise themselves as comedies like Meet the Spartans, but here comes a genuinely laughfest that attributes to the fact that the main star, funnyman Steve Carell as bumbling new secret agent Maxwell Smart, is not the only one that provides the humor for the movie. Many of his co-stars provide plenty of laughs, and there are even funny cameos by legendary actor Bill Murray and WWE professional wrestler Dalip "The Great Khali" Singh.

I'd recommend this movie to anyone who want to laugh.....out loud. =P

Oh yeah, I just got new headphones and a Creative Zen ^_^.

The June holidays is coming, and I cannot wait for it, seriously. I could sleep as long as I want, but best of all, the movies coming out look fantastic. Indiana Jones, Narnia, Incredible Hulk, Kung Fu Panda etc. Too bad Dark Knight is only coming out in July though. That's my no. 1 Must See movie this year. I loved Batman Begins, and I'm sure as hell gonna enjoy this one too.

So yeah, I haven't been blogging. Homework has been piling, and I was studying my ass off-ahhh I'll stop all the lies :D

Nah, I'm kidding. There was MYE, thankfully it's over though.

GTA IV = looks too awesome. I need a PS3. NAO. I'm desperate. Srsly.

Anyway, I got Call of Duty 4, and bought Gears of War with the money I got from my aunt (she rocks). Yeah, I'm pretty much scared shitless as the Berserker is like, the scariest non-horror game monster ever. Really.

Finished Assassin's Creed today. The ending SUCKED, SUCKED, SUCKED, SUCKED. But the game was awesome. Assassination has never been fun until now heehee [/sadistic]

Just watched this Crime movie called No Country for Old Men. It has been named as one of the best movies of all time, but I really do not know whether to like it or not.

I loved the antagonist, Anton Chigurh (deviously played by Javier Bardem). He was truly the embodiment of evil: killing without remorse. His every presence in the movie sent a chill down my spine. He was THAT good. Oh yeah, I love his haircut. I wanna get one like his.

Josh Brolin was the uber-cool Llewelyn Moss, and Tommy 'The White Guy from Men in Black' Lee Jones as the Sheriff.

The reason why I'm not sure whether to like the movie or not is because I felt that the ending was anti-climactic, something which I despise in movies.

But let's not forget the countless amount of violence and gore. Bone sticking out of someone's arm after an accident, AND acting normal about it? HARDCORRRRRRRE!!!

Anyway, it's 12:40AM now, and I can't sleep, mainly because I slept in the afternoon.
Bleh.

I really want to watch Be Kind Rewind. Jack Black is the most awesomemest (is that even a word?) actor there is.....well not really.

Currently reading The Last King of Scotland by Giles Foden. An interesting read so far, one of those books that grabs my attention and never lets go, well, unless I fall asleep, that's a different matter.

Looked so awesome in the trailer, came out as a so-so movie.

300 is MUCH MUCH better. It would kick its ass from Sparta. Speaking of which, Meet the Spartans looks pathetic. Seriously, this movie came from the writers of the equally pathetic "comedies" Epic Movie and Date Movie. They don't realise fart jokes and fat jokes aren't funny anymore. If they want to know REAL comedy, they should watch Judd Apatow's movies. THOSE, my friends, are what you call comedies. 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad, Knocked Up.

Mouth for War

Well, today was the first meeting for the INCrowd. The people there are pretty cool, but I found out there are only 4 males (including me). FTW?

Anyway, we got to know more about what we would be doing, and Serene Goh (INEditor) had a long talk with us on what to expect. I am now known to her as Iron Maiden, because I was wearing an IM t-shirt. She says that Daniel Peters is harder to remember than Iron Maiden. W....WHA?!?

Oh yeah, there was pizza. Rocco's Pizza!

So now, I am the movie and music critic. The plus side? I get free CDs and movie tickets. (Criticism FTW!) The down side? Writing the reviews would obviously be time-consuming. So I'd have to plan my timetable well.

Maths Common Test is tomorrow. I used to be afraid of Maths, and I'm actually falling in love with it. :p

The more complicated it gets, somehow, it attracts me more. Don't know why. =D
